Creating Happiness for Employees Developing Cohesion to Give Back to Society

In recent years, NWS also deploys information technology media to extend care and further elevate overall employee satisfaction.

This year, NWS was once again presented the Employer of Choice for the 7th consecutive year, while also receiving the Corporate Social Responsibility Award and the ESG HR Strategy Award. Ms. Kelly Wong, Head of Group Human Resources and Corporate Services, expressed great honour to be awarded again and these accolades were testaments to the recognition of NWS human resources policies and corporate culture.

Kelly revealed that NWS has always adopted People-Oriented approach as a fundamental element in corporate human resources management strategy. Caring for physical and mental well-being of employees is our top priority. In the past, the company has hosted many activities to promote employee wellness, ranging from employee health days, yoga lessons, singing bowl experiences, to health seminars. In addition, we also arranged regular body check-ups for employees to encourage their understanding of health conditions.

Implementing Family Well-being Policies
NWS goes beyond its commitment to employee benefits by recognizing the importance of family well-being. It extends medical benefits to employees families including spouses, children, and even their parents are also supported with medical subsidies. We especially put in place Wellness Dollars for employees to share with their families to purchase healthcare products, fitness club memberships, eyewear, and even relevant medical services. In addition, NWS acknowledges the importance of annual leave days to employees. On top of offering more favourable annual leave days than statutory ones, NWS also provides marriage leave, birthday leave, and family-care leave to encourage employees to spend more time with families to achieve work-life balance.

Encouraging Communication to Enhance Collaboration
When being asked what strategies NWS has implemented to enhance employee relations, Kelly stressed We firmly believe in Happy Workplace, Happy Employees. NWS is committed to creating a pleasant work ambience. We hope that employees can establish good rapport among colleagues while accomplishing job duties. Specific examples included a board range of monthly employee activities such as rice noodles catering party, e-sports competition, wine tasting event and bowling day etc. to promote employee interactions and collaboration, providing platforms of opportunities for employee communication outside of work. In the past year, NWS has launched an employee specific mobile app that features functions such as announcement and enrolment of employee activities, employee activity photo albums, and also regular updates of wellness information. We aim to uplift employee awareness of wellness and team cohesion by awarding bonus points to employees on their birthdays, employment anniversaries or participation in specific employee activities to exchange for a variety of rewards.

NWS Targets to Achieve Win-Win Deals with Employees
Furthermore, NWS hosts regular sessions of Dialogues with CEO to invite employees from different levels to enjoy afternoon teas with the CEO to carry out exchanges in a relaxed environment, fostering mutual communication. Our management deeply values employee voices. We organize annual Town Hall Meeting in which management will share companys future development directions with employees while allowing employees to raise questions instantly. Besides, through Chat with CEO sessions, employees at various levels will have opportunities to express their opinions directly to management, fostering communication between management and employees, enhancing management effectiveness and transparency, and increasing management understanding on employees points of view.
