Mr. Michael Lee, VP and Managing Director of Otis Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan said, I am delighted for Otis to have won Employer of Choice for 4 consecutive years. It is a recognition to the company and also a testament to our employee contributions!

Speaking of appointment by merit, Michael himself is a classic example in Otis. He has joined Otis for 30 years. Started as a frontline engineer and has become the head of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan today, Michael is deeply impressed by every step Otis has taken to achieve talent development objectives.

Integrated Technologies to Support Smart City Development
As the winning company of Corporate Sustainability Award, Otis has been investing considerable resources and innovative ideas to support the development of smart city to enable people with freedom to connect and strive in a taller, faster and smarter world. Michael illustrated that one of the solutions is to integrate technology of IoT into elevators. From the moment of going out for work, with one click into the floor selection function in a mobile app, people can gain access to premises security gate and choose which floor to reach remotely.

Moreover, Otis incorporates AI function into elevators. Once passengers enter the elevator, they can start conversations with it. If passengers want to look for restaurants, the elevator can provide restaurant information and dining recommendations once it connects to the internet. These innovative applications bring about convenience and comfort to our lives.

Generous Support to Employees On-the-Job Training
As a company with over 100 years of history, Otis has never been pinchpenny in developing new employees. Michael pointed out that the company has actively introduced different initiatives to attract young people to join in recent years which range from participating in summer internship job fairs and promoting the latest company information, technology and corporate culture through various social media. We are not merely an elevator company, but also a company that is filled with agility and creativity. Otis Employee Scholarship Program is worth mentioning as the program enables employees who are interested in furthering studies to enhance personal values while working. In addition, Otis offers an array of training programs to meet the needs and preferences of employees.

Speaking of corporate culture, Otis is committed to building a fair, diverse and inclusive community. The elevator industry has been always perceived as a male-dominated industry, but in fact Otis has female engineers and technicians who perform remarkably at their jobs. If maintenance employees enter or exit the roof of elevator with inappropriate procedures, the elevator will stall to ensure safety to employees and the public.

Otis also hosts a variety of activities for back-office employees to enhance their physical and mental health. For instance, a series of recreational activities were organized under the theme of Your Wellness Our Priority, offering classes to learn yoga, stretching, drawing, flower arrangement and racewalking competitions etc. In addition, Otis also provides psychological counselling services for employees globally. Employees can reach out anonymously to a third-party professional counselling institute to seek assistances in order to alleviate stress from work or personal lives.
