To optimize the provision of estate management and services, it is a common trend for large property management companies to utilize smart building technology for facilities management. Hong Yip Service Company Limited (Hong Yip), a subsidiary of Sun Hung Kai Properties Group, encourages its employees to utilize technology to embrace changes, and advocates for Environment, Social and Governance ESG, to strategically achieve the company's long-term sustainable development.

Hong Yip won the .Employer of Choice Award・ for the fourth consecutive year, and the .Employer Brand Management Award・, .ESG HR Strategy Award・, and .Greater Bay Area Outstanding Employer Award・ this year. Dr Aaron Chiang, Head of Human Resources and Administration of Hong Yip, conveyed his appreciation upon these accolades, which highlight the company's HR excellence and market recognition.

Creating Diverse Employment Opportunities Aggressively
Being the .Employer of Choice・, Hong Yip's excellence is reflected in several aspects. Renowned for its diversity and inclusivity, Hong Yip employs over 3,000 people from diverse background, and offers the most post-training job opportunities in the industry annually. Collaborating with about 20 institutions of diverse background, it provides job offers to over 100 students yearly.

Hong Yip collaborates with various non-profit organizations to provide job opportunities for the community. For instance, through a partnership with the .Caring Church's Network for the Poor・, its .Youth Upward Mobility Mentorship (YUM) Program・ offers employment to youths aged 18 to 25, with specific target on secondary school leavers who are unemployed or under-employed. This partnership showcases Hong Yip・s commitment to society and provides the youth with valuable career opportunities to achieve their goals.

Pioneering AI in Recruitment and Internal Staff Communication
Leveraging the lastest technology, Hong Yip is innovative in the industry by employing artificial intelligence (AI) system for talent acquisition, enhancing job matching and appealing to Generation Z. Notably, its .WeCom・ app, self-developed in 2015, allows employees to access real-time company information, top management sharing, training resources, opinion surveys, event highlights, etc. This becomes the main communication channel between the company and employees, serving as a key platform for two-way information exchange.

Dr Aaron Chiang remarks, "WeCom is vital for knowledge management and training at Hong Yip. It enables flexible self-learning with over 500 videos, facilitating online learning, assessment, review, and feedback."

Automating Talent Acquisition
In 2023, Hong Yip took the lead to introduce .Welinked Talent Tracking Platform・, a tailored recruitment system that aligns with business needs. It maintains a resume database and streamline the workflow in the recruitment processes between applicants and the hiring parties. It accurately tracks recruitment progress, collects job application data, and incorporates all data for analysis, thereby improving recruitment efficiency and adding a significant competitive edge to Hong Yip.

Wong Siu Ping, Senior Manager of Human Resources and Administration of Hong Yip, stated that the company offers numerous job opportunities across levels and fields each year, optimizes recruitment to attract top talents through diversified channels, and focuses on 'individual value' and 'creative management' to drive innovation and customer service excellence. Hong Yip also runs the ' Breakthrough and Innovation Award Contest ' yearly to nurture a creative culture in the organization.

In a sustainable effort with the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) and over 20 non-profit organizations, Hong Yip proactively participates in recruitment events for graduates of ERB programs, including the tailor-made ones like .Standard Security and Property Management・ and .Clubhouse and Recreational Facilities Operation and Practice・. These initiatives provide the unemployed and elderly with pathways to re-enter the workforce, enabling Hong Yip to become the only company to win ERB's : ERB Annual Outstanding Award for Employer; for 13th cosecutive year.

Introducing MR to Enhance Training Experience
Since 2018, Hong Yip has been at the forefront of training innovation, incorporating VR/AR training within their programs. Utilizing 14 sets of advanced training technology, they have successfully trained over 1,000 individuals in virtual training of building environment simulations, practising the handling of different scenarios of emergency situations.

Dr Aaron Chiang added, "Hong Yip makes strategic partnership with various educational institutions to develop innovative technology training projects for our employees and students. Collaborating with Hong Kong Metropolitan University and utilizing government research fund, we introduced a Mixed Reality (MR) training program in 2023. This program expands the scope of innovative training, allowing broader application of technology for employees and students."

Valuing Environment, Social, and Governance for Sustainable Development
Hong Yip won the "ESG Human Resources Strategy Award" for two consecutive years. Dr Chiang responded, "Adhering to our parent company Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited's philosophy of 'Building Homes with Heart,' we are committed to achieving sustainable development. We actively promote environmental protection, continuously improve the environmental management systems, enhance energy efficiency of buildings, establish an environmentally friendly corporate culture, and adhere to the corporate principles of sustainable development. We've formed an 'Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) Steering Committee, composed of Hong Yip directors, department heads, and subsidiary heads, to maintain robust risk management and internal controls, ensuring operations align with our policies and corporate governance requirements."

.Oscar by the Sea・ Achieving Great Results in Smart Recycling
Ma Man Ying, Assistant General Manager at Hong Yip, pointed out that Hong Yip is dedicated to advocating environmental protection and sustainable development. .Oscar by the Sea・ stands as a paragon in enhancing environmental value and crisis management. :The estate organizes diversified environmental protection events. It secured grants from the .Environment and Conservation Fund・ and the .Recycling Fund・ to support initiatives like 'Community Involvement for Waste Separation' and 'Smart Bins Technology in Food Waste Recycling'. .Oscar by the Sea・ also joined forces with the 'Jockey Club Look for Green Mobile Recycling Program' and 'Green@Community Recycling Spots', and has been an active participant in the Environmental Protection Department・s .Pilot Scheme on Food Waste Collection・. These collaborations have enhanced tenants・ environmental awareness and encouraged waste reduction at the source, fulfilling its mission for green living.;

Hong Yip also actively integrates ESG into the workplace, for instance, supporting fair employment practices and complying with local labour laws and minimum wage regulations in its operation sites. Aiming at reducing daily operational risks and safeguarding employee well-being, the HR department oversees and enhances the effectiveness of HR policies as well as the development of occupational health and workplace safety.

Industry・s First-Launch of Qualifications Framework in Property Management
Hong Yip focuses on talent development and establishes clear career plans for employees. Authorized by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in 2010, it is the first property management company to provide qualifications framework courses from levels 1 to 4. Hong Yip has introduced 24 accredited QF courses, with a total of 324 credits which represents 88% of the total credits offered by all programs in the industry.

The company has awarded over 6,200 recognized diplomas and certificates to employees. Hong Yip also launched the .Advanced Diploma in Integrated Property Services Management (QF Level 4)・ in 2022, which was endorsed by the "Property Management Services Authority", as the first and only company that offer program recognized to meet with the academic requirement for its .Property Management Practitioner (Tier 2) License ・, setting an industry benchmark.
