The hotel empowers its Team, dubbed as Miracle Makers and Moonwalkers, to create unparalleled MIRAcle Moments to guests during their stay. The Mira Hong Kong underscores innovative recruitment measures and training initiatives to build remarkable career journey and long-range development goals for employees.
Ms. Anna Chan, Assistant Director of Human Resources ¡V Hotels & Serviced Apartments of The Mira Hong Kong , was honored to be presented the awards of ¡§Employer of Choice¡¨ and ¡§Corporate Training¡¨ by JobMarket. ¡§These accolades give great encouragement to us. We anticipate our Miracle Makers and Moonwalkers to bring more remarkable and unforgettable moments to our guests in the future!¡¨
As ¡§Employer of Choice¡¨ award-winning company, Mira Hotel Collection has made notable efforts in recruitment and employee development and coaching aspects. Speaking of recruitment, Mira Hotel Collection has implemented a variety of recruitment measures last year to attract job seekers of diverse backgrounds. One of such examples was MIRAcle Young Star Program which targets to attract high school graduates who are interested in embarking their career in hospitality industry. The program allows them to work and study at the same time and accumulate relevant travel and hospitality professional knowledge.
¡§We co-launched MIRAcle Young Star Program with YMCA, targeting young job seekers or high school graduates, offering full-time jobs working in the hotel while pursuing a qualification through a 2-year part-time course of Diploma in Tourism. Upon completion of the 2-year work period, outstanding performers get a chance to be promoted to supervisory positions in the hotel.¡¨ Ms Chan added that Mira Hotel Collection provides full sponsorships for these students to attend classes once a week while assigning them to work in different departments during the 2-year work period.
Employee Growth and Development as Top Priorities Mira Hotel Collection focuses on growth and development of employees. The hotel offers new employees training plans and career coaching from the moment of joining the hotel to ensure smooth settling in a new work environment. In addition, the hotel organizes a variety of employee activities, which not only enhance employee collaboration, but also provide a platform of development opportunities and pave ways for employees to realize long-range career aspirations.
As the winning company of ¡§Corporate Training Award¡¨ Ms. Janvier Cheung, Learning and Development Manager of The Mira Hong Kong, pointed out that the hotel cares for the feelings of new employees and believes a good start warrants half the success. The hotel organizes new employees to join a one-day orientation, during which employees are introduced to company background, mission and vision and get to grasp the unique propositions of the hotel. They will also tour different hotel departments and dine in hotel¡¦s restaurant to understand the restaurant concepts. In this way, they can feel more confident in making restaurant recommendations to hotel guests in the future.
The Mira Hotel Collection embraces brand service culture and anticipates Miracle Makers and Moonwalkers to create highly personalised surprises to guests. One of the important sessions of orientation is to highlight features of the hotel¡¦s brand service culture to new employees and guide them how to articulate these elements in daily work routines by always going the extra mile which never goes unnoticed.
Voices of New Employees Ms. Yip Yuan Kwan (Kwan) and Mr. Lam Pak To (Marcus) are MIRAcle Young Stars this year. They have been with The Mira Hong Kong for 5 months now and it is also their first full-time job.
Kwan shared that her first job in the hotel was waitress at Yamm, a popular among locals buffet restaurant, and subsequently was assigned to work at Whisk, a French-Japanese fine dining restaurant. She said that she liked coffee therefore wished to explore more interests in her current position. So far, an unforgettable experience relates to the French-Japanese restaurant where she has to pick up and memorize customers¡¦ preferences and dining habits in their occasional dialogues. Marcus was assigned to work as a waiter at Cuisine Cuisine soon after he joined. He said that he would be extra cautious not to make the slightest slip at work as Cuisine Cuisine is a long-standing Michelin-recommended outlet.
